One in three of us will get cancer and it’s the toughest thing most of us will ever face. If you’ve been diagnosed with cancer, or a loved one has, you’ll want a team of people in your corner supporting you every step of the way. Macmillan provide practical, medical and financial support and push for better cancer care.

Clinics and Services

Practice Nurse Clinics
The Practice Nurses have appointments each day.  They do Routine tests and treatments.  Blood tests are usually done before 10:00.

Family Planning

This may be arranged in Surgery with a Doctor or Practice Nurse.  All methods of contraception are available.  Doctor Neville fits coils.

Diabetic Clinic

Diabetic patients are seen regularly by the Doctor and by the Nurse.  Our Nurses have special training in diabetic care.

Asthma Clinic/Respiratory Clinic

The Nurses, who are specially trained, with the supervision of the Doctors, also run this.  The Nurses can advise on treatment and monitor progress.

Coronary Heart Disease Clinic

The Nurse who runs this clinic is specially trained with the supervision of the Doctors. 

Anticoagulation Clinic

Our Nurses are trained to do Warfarin monitoring, we hold 3 clincis a week on a Monday morning, Tuesday afternoon and Friday morning here in the surgery.

We also like to regularly monitor all our patients with Hypertension, Thyroid Illness and Epilepsy

Antenatal Clinics

All the Doctors are happy to provide antenatal care.  They share this care with the Midwife.

Well Baby Cl
inic
This Clinic is run from The Alcombe Childrens Drop In Centre, Stephenson Road. The Health Visitor is available here, every Thursday between the hours of 10:00am and 12:00noon

Maternity Care

All doctors offer maternity care usually shared with the Midwife. On confirmation of pregnancy the Midwife will visit you at home to discuss your future care and delivery. If it is your first baby or you have had complications in the past you may be referred to a Consultant Obstetrician otherwise the Midwife will look after youthroughout your pregnancy and delivery and until ten days after when care is handed to the Health Visitor. A postnatal examination of you and your baby by the doctor at six weeks is recommended.

Carers Project
A team of Carer’s Support Workers work with us trying to identify, and help any of our patients who care for a dependent relative or friends.  They can arrange sitting, day care etc., and have a wealth of useful information.  Contact via Reception.
 
Hospice Nurse
Nurses from St Margaret’s Hospice are available for home consultations and advice to cancer patients in this area.  Please ask your Doctor about this

Minor Surgery
Your own Doctor can carry out a wide variety of minor operations and injections in our well-equipped treatment room.  We have liquid nitrogen cyrotherapy for removal of warts, verrucas and other minor skin lesions.
